Hi, I have a 12 year old and 15 yo who are wrapping up the invisaline process and i have been wondering about something very similiar to this. i'm very uncomfortable with the idea that at the end their mouth becomes "locked" into place with a retainer. My daughter has a canine that is sitting well up into her gum line. my son just has teeth that overlap and could potentially chip because the upper does not overlap over the bottom properly. Is there a follow-up article to this that explains the process? Or is it simply a path of moving through the myobrace, etc? Thx

i would recommend taking off the retainer and putting them on a simple rubber mouthguard. I have the Reviv One but Myobrace does the same thing.

I talk about the options here: https://reviv.substack.com/p/how-to-solve-the-problem

And i dont buy into the Myobrace line of appliances at all. That is either marketing bs or they dont understand how the soft tissue actually works.. because all you need is a single appliance for any condition. And no need to 'graduate' thru appliances as they like to say.

What do you think about implants? In have a son who is missing 2 bottom teeth and so far has just had an appliance with fake teeth to keep the space. He is now 20 and we were just about to look into implants. He did have braces. He feels the need to get his permanent retainer out because he is trying to naturally expand his pallet for better nose breathing and feels like the retainer is a problem.

i would lose the retainer and he should do things to stretch the soft tissue out (eg. mouthguard + thumbpulling + yoga, etc)

i'd wait to do the implant if u can... as the mouth will remodel and if u do it now it might look out of place later
