in my discussions with chatgpt, I came across the idea of how mouth 'posture' is a very strong indicator of 'state' - if you want to check in on whether you are tense or relaxed, notice how your mouth feels - relaxed, loose, open, lower jaw resting-low so that teeth don't touch versus tense, tight, closed, lower jaw tightens 'upwards' so that teeth are touching.
seems very plausible that just by 'forcing' the mouth to be in an open position, the mind and body mirrors the 'relaxed' physiological state signaled by the mouth posture. also notice how our common ways to discharge tension - crying, screaming, shouting, laughing all involve the mouth opening up. eating and socialising, which are usually parasympathetic activities also involve opening the mouth. wonder if medicine will prescribe mouthguards as a way to relax and activate the parasympathetic system in the future
my 'fast method' stretches were created from the foundation of me trying to figure out how to do what the mouthguard was doing without using the mouthguard.
And so youre essentially just opening the mouth and creating a stretch that then ends up stretching the skull and entire skeleton.
Congratulations Ken!! You rock! We are so fortunate to have you lead us thru this vastly unknown territory! I admire you and all your hard work and commitment! God Bless you!
i thought i'd do a amateur (chinese-metaphysics) wuxing/ Five elemental analysis of you based on photos you shared and your writings just because:
my read is that you're yin-Earth core (think farmland soil, in contrast to Yang Earth which is hills and mountains) which means your core-personality is the nurturing center. your overall energy is soft, stable, grounded, warm and nurturing, and whilst you are adaptable, receptive, and may even enjoy movement, your preference is to stay centered. you're enriched by different elements coming into your container, moving on your periphery, but you prefer not to 'move' your core. i'm also a yin-earth core, but we have quite different elemental make-up.
the other element that stands out is Water. water is adaptable, calm, introspective, reflective - someone who looks 'deep' in thought. so with Yin-earth core + strong water, your main vibe is very calm, nurturing, 'smooth', and relaxed, but with a deep center. your strength and power is less outwardly explicit and visible, but is more towards resourceful, resilient, adaptable depths and persistence -not a loud, abrasive, dominant force, but the essential nourishing resource-center that grounds and provides (you provide 'food' and 'water').
There is moderate elements of Fire (expression, sparks, dynamism, visibility, excitement, 'aliveness' and Wood (structure, growth, vision, creative-power, vigor). But I predict that in your youth, you were probably more inclined towards Fire than Water - u enjoyed stimulus-seeking, travel, novelty and excitement in your younger days, whilst you are more Water-dominant today. My guess is that your early mid-life crisis with your teeth brought in a flood of Water (inner turmoil, excess flooding causing Earth (your center, ability to provide) to be muddy and stagnant, Wood to be drowned (your career and growth choked out), and a quenching of Fire (felt less alive, excited, visible, confident). Your life was not burnt down (Fire, eg financial bubble bursting), hacked off (Metal - sharp, aggressive destruction like war), or structurally collapsed (Wood), but rather, 'washed away' (Water) - a 'softer' but no less destructive erosion.
This forced you into a difficult time of introspection and reflection (Water) after which you emerged with a renewed, deeper intuitive understanding of what had happened - born anew in the waters of life. Perhaps this is why you naturally gravitated towards "Reviv" - signaling the revival of your Self having been drowned by turbulent waters.
But it did change your elemental make-up - Water produces Wood and regulates Fire, so whilst your Wood (structure, growth, creativity) either 'grew' or stayed the same, you became less Fire, My guess is that you are a calmer, harmonious and more introspective person now than before.
What you seem to lack is Metal (Yin Metal is the rapier and needle, Yang Metal is the axe and the broadsword). Metal gives sharpness, focus, hardness, precision, refinement, rigidity and clarity. Metal is regulated by Fire (fire melts metal, the desire to seek different stimulus and sensations impairs the ability to focus and refine) and produced by Earth (metal ore 'found' in earth, the stable accumulation of experience and groundedness produces insight and clarity). The reduction of 'Fire' preserved your innately low Metal indirectly as your attention is less distracted and pulled around, and your grounding Earth supports a consistent production of Metal. Nevertheless, you might notice that sharpness, precision, clarity, doesn't naturally come to you. Instead, you rely a lot more on deep, reflective understanding by circulating back and forth, exploring all the various contours of an 'issue' (Water).
As a fun suggestion, you might find it helpful to use your deep reflective nature (Water) to ponder how to introduce more Metal (clarity, precision, focus, refinement) in your life. Perhaps there are tasks or activities that 'spread' you too thin, that can be trimmed or cut away, so that you can better focus and perfect on the things that really matter. I wouldn't recommend necessarily 'cutting back' on Fire, as new sights, experiences, and ideas are equally essential to nourish (Earth soil needs warmth, sunlight, renewal), but perhaps cutting out low-value distractions.
Where you shine is as the deep-stable-center that grounds and nourishes (rather than holds or protects like a Yang-Earth fortress-Mountain). You grow stronger and better with time, because Water needs time to reflect and ponder, whilst Earth gradually absorbs and contains. Water is adaptable, and Earth is resilient - both are able to thrive and survive the changes in time. Where you do worse (don't try to 'train' and 'get better' as its not your nature, instead, avoid or delegate to others like colleagues, family, friends etc) is where sharp, decisive, dynamic, quick and abrupt actions and decisions must be made. Your Fire is moderate whilst your Metal is low, your nervous system prefers steady and gradual output instead of abrupt, volatile bursts of intensity.
I'm a Yin-earth core, but I am high-fire, moderate Metal-Water, and lack Wood. So where we differ is where you have more structure and creative-power (Wood) to put your 'wisdom' into practice, my expression is lacking as I lack direction and outward 'growth'. My high-fire means that I enjoy exploring many different ideas and experiences, whilst your nature is to explore a few, but much more deeply and thoroughly (water). We both absorb, digest, and eventually synthesize it into our core-being, with the fruit being that of nourishment (our expression is to help, nourish and support like farmland soil rather than growth-orientation (wood), analysis and judgement (metal), inspiration and exploration (Fire) or inner reflection and understanding (water).
wow very interesting! That is a very robust analysis!
I do feel like the last couple of years im introducing more 'Metal' into my life.
In that i have trimmed away many many things (some would probably say too much).
I pretty much expend zero energy on people that are not in my inner circle that i care about (very stark contrast to my 20's and 30s where i had tons of loose friendships)
And i pretty much just focus on my family, my business and my health. Whereas earlier in my life id try to do tons of other things.
And i almost dont travel anymore unless someone (like my wife) literally forces me to.
In any case.. ill continue to reflect on what you said... these days i try to lead an almost overly simple life.
The last 5-6 years have almost looked exactly the same... to the point that i forget one year from the other.
Whereas my life prior to that was always full of change... new people, new countries, new jobs, new hobbies etc
sounds good! its very possible (even likely) that your face will undergo changes in the near-future to be more 'metal'. sharper, more 'cut', harder edges etc, just that it takes a bit more time to 'catch up'.
you might observe slight changes in your writing. even in your reply here, you can notice how 'gentle' and gradual it is - gradually circling and exploring your thoughts on one issue, before gradually sliding over to the next one. you hint at future thoughts, so that it feels 'smooth' when you transition to it later, and later, you also circle back to previous ones.
unlike my writing that might be more 'abrupt', condensed, 'burst'-like. the escalator vs the staircase. you can see my thoughts don't circle back as much, nor do they 'hint' at what i'm going to say next.
i can guess why your last 5-6 have looked similar (my last 15 years also looked very similar from the 'outside' -besides a change in where I I live- though enormous changes were shifting within). inner changes were being consolidated and metabolised, like the crop that waits for its time to harvest, or the caterpillar in its cocoon.
for your profile, change comes gradually but with deep-roots. notice how your reviv 'marketing' very radically differs from what one might conventionallu expect - loud advertisements, heavy stimulus-marketing, aggressive promotions etc. yours (at least from what i observe) is gentle but solid and consistent - people are not convinced, they are converted and spread it through word-of-mouth, no hype, solid grounding. not many come at first, but those that do tend to stay. grounded, accumulative power.
thanks for your assessment and feedback on my analysis!
I can't believe over a year has gone by since I started my Reviv journey with a ShockDoctor upper mouthguard, then R1, and now on R2 since May! The R2 has held up pretty well so far. I pre-ordered both R3 Large and XL so I can experiment with the different sizes.
Hi! Im so interested in trying this but I am wondering if I am a good candidate...
I currently have an inbrace (I know, I know - but I didn't know 16 mos ago!), it's due to be removed in about 2 mos.
Initially I got it put in because I had lingual tipping and abfraction that they told me would get worse as I aged. I had a bit of overcrowding on my bottom teeth but I ALSO a bunch of gaps/spaces in my upper teeth (I still have a little bit of bonding btwn my two front teeth).
I would love to try one of the reviv mouthguards instead of the one the ortho gives me - but as my palate widens I do NOT want the gaps in my upper teeth to come back
Do you think I'm a good candidate for reviv? Thank you, and sorry to hijack your substack to ask this question!
In general i think gaps will close in the longer run with this process if they arent from extractions. If they are from extractions then yes i think those gaps can open with this process.. but i still think that is a good thing. As you're getting the gaps b/c your skull is larger and there is likely less compression on the brain.
So yes.. i have a strong feeling reviv would help you

Hey EGK, I’m putting together a course focused on reversing hair loss naturally and permanently, and I see Reviv as the perfect ally in the process for those who want to speed up their results.
I wanted to know if you have an affiliate program or something similar, so we can set up a partnership and I can start recommending it to my students.
Hello, I have been trying to get in touch with a question I have about R2 but no response so thought I'd try here: I have R2, but it is unopened. The box is the way I received it. I wonder if I could exchange it/make a switch for R3. I have hesitated to begin R2 because of reports of sore/bleeding gums, and I am sensitive, in general. Just wondering if I can do this. A question not asked is always "no". :)
we can treat it as a size change and charge $15 (for shipping). Did you already email cs@getreviv.com? If not please email there with your order# and they'll advise what to do.
Eu queria saber sua explicação por que os dentes doem com o uso do reviv. Não é igual a dor da gengiva no início, mas sim quando você tira ou mexe no dente. É a pressão? Dente movendo? O que?
in my view/experience it is that the tooth is ready to move into a better position... and so it hurts a little until it shifts into that position.
For example when my teeth are sore, i bite firmly on a balled up paper towel on that spot.. and it makes a bit of sound till the soreness goes away. Which i take to mean that it has moved
Haha, translation fail! I was referring to most of my teeth (or even all of them), not my toes. Since they are sore when touched, I’ll use the paper towel technique to help them shift and find their new position faster. Thanks for confirming it works as an accelerator!

Can you make a clear r3 like thee r2, and also a clear r1day, those are more subtle and less noticeable then the coloured versions
yes we are making a clear R3 and should be out in mid jan.
RD2 will be clear and shoud have some other advantages over RD1. Probaby out in late feb

yes just bite down on the paper towel firmly.. but dont try to force any movement. Sometimes u should hear a noise like a squeak... and that is good
