good post

This is brilliant. I remember when I had my interpupillary distance measured realizing I didn't like how close set my eyes are. Gaining a few mm width would be amazing.

Can you write a post about flat spots and dimples on the skull? I have two near my crown, and the back of my head is also quite flat. My father and grandmother have this too, so it is clearly inherited.

ill look into it... asi dont know much about it tbh

I would love to see a before and after picture showing the widening of eye space! Do you have of yourself?

EGK's avatar

i never really focused on it so i dont know if i have a great picture... by the shape of my eyes have definitely changed in the past 4 yrs. There's a pic of me on our homepage https://getreviv.com/

👏🏻 👀 I wonder if it’s connected to the nose widening as the face relaxes through the unwinding process? Great article!

EGK's avatar

yes i think its related. When i did this the first time years back it was very clear at the end that youre literally like stretching the midface wider as if pulling on the skull from either side

Do you think that childhood is very important and is the period when the most benefit will be obtained from biomechanical treatment? I think that if a mouth guard is applied to a child with Down syndrome, he will get rid of his syndrome, but the same is not true for adults.

I don't know, maybe I'm crazy :)

EGK's avatar

i do think biomechanics have more impact during childhood because you take advantage of the growth that is happening and trigger the epigenetics more.

About Down syndrome... im not sure tbh.

Hey Cincancon, so Weston Price actually rapidly expanded the palate of a sixteen year old Down Syndrome patient who had severe sleep apnea. The boy went from an IQ of 4 and playing with blocks, to taking trains by himself, shopping at the grocery, pulling pranks, and schmoozing a secretary in just a few weeks and months time. When the expander broke, symptoms returned. The appliance was reinstalled, but Price realized the boy had the impulses of a man with the mind of a child. He eventually had to be institutionalized for being a perv. Price writes more about this in his book Nutrition and Physical Degeneration which you can find online.

I wonder if this is because he wasn’t socialized properly, so the rate of acquiring social knowledge and self-control occurred too slow relative to the rate of hormonal and biochemical changes happening in his body. Perhaps if Price had expanded his palate when he was 4 instead of 16 he might have grown to be a normal child

Ken can we possible increase the eye spacing with Reviv 3? that i have ordered anyway

I have almost/ or have 1 eye distance between the eyes...based on how you look ;) at it, cause my right eye are closer set to the nose than the other! which make me loose this crucial 1 mm in spacing, is the nose simply misplaced and not in the middle above the mouth/cupis bow, ? thats how it looks like in my eyes, that its not centered, so i need just one eyesocket to move, if Reviv cant fix it i must test MARPE to hopefully move the nose into more symmetrical center

I view that there is a good chance this process will help with facial asymmetry and eye spacing over time as the skull expands and remodels naturally.

Regarding MARPE — I would strongly recommend giving this process a fair try before considering MARPE. In my view MARPE forces rapid expansion in a way that can create other issues: https://reviv.substack.com/p/my-thoughts-on-the-marpe-appliance

Thanks i, Reviv 3 have alot to fix on me, i see for instance that you like me have hooded eyes on this before 2021 pictures, and unless you are squinting in the 2025 pic your hooding looks lower and the eye looks <elongated> right? if so how long did that process take?

My issue is that my tissue :) (the browbone) is not as low sett as the right eyes browbone, so the brow is therefore higher placed consequently the hooding under it dont reach as low down on the eyelid as my correct eye, it can be a wery complicated operation to lower the eyebrow manually.

We tested last year to inject botox into my frontalis muscle to relax it, guess what? nothing moved down as it should have done!, so it was no longer a muscle issue in my view…..

I see a connection between this one sided eye asymmetry and my subtle leaning jaw and biteplane with inward-leaning first and second molars that happens to be placed in vertical lining to the lack of eye-hooding higher up in the face, so if Reviv 3 can align my jaw a bit perhaps my browbone will move downwards? or it will move up even further? and make it worse, gotta trust that it moves in the right direction though

EGK's avatar

Good observation and yes the connection you are drawing between the jaw/bite asymmetry and the eye/brow asymmetry is very much in line with how I view these biomechanics.

In my view the skull remodels as a whole unit — so as the jaw and bite align over time the effects do travel upward through the facial structure including the brow bone and eye area. So yes there is a good chance the asymmetry you are describing will improve over time.

In terms of direction — in my experience over time with the mouthguard things tend to move towards a more natural and symmetric position rather than worsening asymmetry. But it is hard to predict what fixes when and certain things can take awhile.

Yeah if Reviv 3 doesnt work i should do a jaw-surgery instead of MARPE to fix it i figured out yesterday, ok good idea i will join the community cause i stink at noticing subtle tissue improvements in my look

Bökberg's avatar

I forgot to ask, have your own eye spacing changed anything since you started wearing mouthguard every night?

EGK's avatar

for me this has been a 10+ yr journey to figure this stuff out... but my eye spacing has changed a lot (for the worse, when i got worse and for the better when i got better)

I dont recommend ever doing jaw surgery as i dont think it solves anything
