I'm 197 days into the Reviv process, and all I can say is—wow, this is awesome. There is zero doubt in my mind that you're the true king & MVP of this biomechanical game

Good post as usual.

I experience the process somewhat differently. I also get whole-body improvements each time I do my exercises, but I'm able to release a specific part of my body at the same time. It's not one or the other in my case.

For example, when I released my lower back a few months ago, that spot started to progressively lose its tightness over time, each session adding to the one before. So each time my spine straightened. But each time my jaw also released forward, my bite slightly changed, my posture improved, my general symmetry too (though in a really subtle way), and the way I naturally move changed, etc. Same thing back when I started with my 3D intraoral craniofacial release (my "thumb-pulling" approach).

Although I do find that the flexion point moves over time. For example, if I did the craniofacial release now, I believe the results wouldn't be as pronounced.

In terms of bone movement itself, I believe it might be caused by neuroplasticity.

My hypothesis is basically that what you're doing is releasing the soft tissue so much that at some point the body needs to change its movement patterns, structure, and overall biomechanics. Which leads to more prominent changes in appearance and bone movement. But maybe the potential was there a while ago. The nervous system just wasn't given the signal to change. It might be that by changing the soft tissue so much externally, the nervous system eventually gets an indirect signal or is "forced" to update its compensation patterns. Then it mobilizes the soft tissue that's been ready for a long time, taking the bone with it.

In my case, I might be doing both at the same time. By focusing on more efficient movement patterns, neurofascial connections, and my breathing, I'm releasing the soft tissue and updating the neuronal map simultaneously. The soft tissue gets exposed to a new pattern piezomechanically and is released, but the nervous system also says, "Hey, this movement pattern is more efficient. Let's use this instead." So the changes become apparent faster. There's probably a two-way feedback loop happening, too, between the nervous system and the soft tissue. The new biomechanical pattern itself also passively maintains the unwinding and neuroplasticity.

Of course, this is only possible thanks to a system already in a more plastic state and an unlocked bite that allows the body to instantly learn and adapt. Otherwise, I believe a locked bite would instantaneously "fight back" from its local soft tissue and prevent the downstream soft tissue from being as flexible and responsive. It would continue pulling and reverting any improvements pretty quickly (this is why most people need to practice a movement a million times before it gets learnt, while nowadays I personally upgrade the software on each session).

The Reviv keeps the skull's soft tissue in place and prevents the bite from collapsing when it is freed, acting more in the long term.

In the long scheme of things you may still be unwinding the soft tissue faster than I am. But I might be seeing the benefits faster. Or maybe I'm progressing faster, or the benefits are just more noticeable. Who knows, hahaha. It might also be that, as you say, the difference is just because our compensations are different, but I'm not inclined to that response.

Anyway, this is a long comment hahaha

I've been thinking about this lately, as I do less direct unwinding and focus more on movement patterns, breathing and fascial connections and literally have to set aside time each day to document my many changes in my journal 😂

I def think different people will experience things differently.

And i understand your point about feeling like you can release a part of the body and it impacting the jaw/bite.

But i still do think that if you’re inflating the tissue very fast you stretch it/rip through it. And that that is key to long-term remodeling.

But i also think you can improve for a long time without having to rip thru the tissue the way i am.

At some point, however, i do think you plateau.. and you will understand what i mean.

I’m coming back since late 2021… but i dont think i was ripping thru tissue the first couple of years that often. It’s more the last 2-3 yrs that it has been prominent.

Interesting. And over time you did notice that it changed from a pattern like mine (local + global upgrades) to where you are now? Or simply did you go from "lighter general release" to ripping through the skin?

But i wouldnt define 'benefits' so narrowly. I'm 49 yrs old, havent been sick in 5 yrs, havent taken a day off in 1.5 yrs, work 12-14 hrs every weekday, 8+ hours every weekend, am in a good mood all the time, my brain clocks like im in my 20's again...

Are u saying u think u function better than me at roughly half my age? Because that is also part of the 'benefits' of this process and id argue its the more reliable indicator of biomechanics (in my experience).

About this local + global upgrades.. the way i view/experienced it is that you can use anything that is tight in the body and it will stretch that area + the entire body (ie. your face/jaw will change)

And yes that local part of the body will feel looser and looser so from that perspective you're changing that area a bit faster. But the whole body is still changing and that area will likely plateau at some point.

In the longer term i find that when you work specific areas of the body, the effectiveness will evolve and u will prob need to change what you work with time.

Whereas with my 'fast method' im essentially ignoring the body and working the face/neck/jaw and using that as a lever to change the body.

ANd i find that it pretty much never plateaus + it stays at a consistently high pace (at least on my own body)

No, you clearly function much better than me; that's what I always complain about hahaha

But of course you started much earlier than me, and as you say, both of us have different compensations.

I believe we agree on how deep this process goes and what "benefits" consist of. I'm not just talking about aesthetics at all, to clarify.

What I meant is that it might be that you:

1. Release the soft tissue.

2. The body then has the possibility to move into a more efficient pattern/improve biomechanics.

3. You never teach it how. You just keep releasing.

4. At one point you released so much that the body has no choice but to move into the more efficient pattern, so you experience the benefits. But you had the possibility to move for a long time before.

Meanwhile I

1. Release the soft tissue AND teach the body/the body learns a more efficient pattern at the same time.

2. I immediately reap the benefits of the released tissue.

That might also explain why I'm experiencing general improvements (not just aesthetics, but I mean deeper breathing, a calmer, happier mood, more energy, etc.) more frequently and basically immediately after each session, as of late.

Now which approach will be faster in the long scheme of things is another topic.

In terms of global vs local, it seems we agree; I misunderstood you from our talks and post then.

That's one explanation I came up with from what I've been experiencing. Hopefully is more clear now

Hey brother, how’s it going?

I wanted to get your biomechanical and empirical perspective on something: does using mouth tape at night help or hinder the process of skull expansion?

From a practical standpoint, does it speed up the retraining of muscle tone and the intraoral vacuum, or could it create a downward fascial restriction/tension on the maxilla that limits the dynamic changes the device is trying to promote?

Have you ever tested or monitored the difference (using vs. not using mouth tape) with any tracking device or biofeedback?

I’m trying to understand whether it’s actually worth using as an accelerator in practice, or if it’s better to leave the jaw free for the small adjustments that happen during sleep. Thanks, brother!

I think I’m going to stop using it... maybe it’s getting in the way—I’m not sure. I just read one of your articles about it, and I also read the comments.

I think your approach is stronger because you focus on the root cause. Even though the other approaches have studies behind them, it seems to me they’re still missing some variables and are mostly focused on the symptoms. The test you did with your son is already a pretty good answer.

The body isn’t stupid. If it does something that doesn’t seem ideal, it’s usually because it needs to compensate for something or because it’s only temporary. For example, even with perfect structure, when we’re running, sooner or later we need to breathe through our mouths. Does that make sense, or am I wrong?

And yes... when you push the body too hard it'll always find a way to compensate (like mouthbreathing)

If people return to where they should be by wearing the reviv mouthguard, will their teeth return to their original positions? If I had crooked teeth when my 2nd teeth grew in, will I return to those crooked teeth?

in my view the teeth reflect the skeleton.

as you do this process longer the skeleton corrects and the teeth continue to correct till they are in very good shape (=wide arches + straight teeth).

When you're done with this process... you should, by definition, have pretty much perfect alignment of the teeth + arches

Ok, I think I understand now. It's not necessarily orthodontics or surgery that puts us out of alignment. If we have crooked teeth, we might already be out of alignment?
