The fact of the matter is most Americans are very ignorant. Why are they ignorant? Maybe because they're mentally lazy. They trust experts. They don't do any research on their own. Verify things on their own. Take a look at America's Top Most Wanted List: Ruja Ignatova. How did she pull that off? She got a PhD. That's how. lol. You think she'd be able to pull off a con like that with a bachelor's? No way. lol. That PhD gave her the legitimacy. In the dental field it's the same thing or any other field for that matter.

The truth of the matter is that the dental industry and your health are at odds. The only way they make money is by production. Hygen work will not bring in the big bucks. They need to do crowns, implants, All on x's etc. All at the expense of your health because ultimately they will mess up your bite. And what incentive do dentists have in doing a good job? You tell me. There is no incentive. They do a good job on a crown, you don't come back to fix that tooth for the next 20, 30 yrs, or even a life time. There's no money in it. But if they do a poor or mediocre job, you come back every 5 or so years to work on that tooth. You turn a crown into a implant. Maybe later on, full mouth reconstruction. That's the game because that's the money. And most people don't know good dentistry from bad. Dentists give all sorts of opinions on causes. They want you to try all sorts of methods. In the end, none will help because that's the money making game. It's pretty simple. Am i the only one that figured this out? lol

I agree the incentives of most dentists are misaligned.

But i also think most are not mal-intentioned.

The fact of the matter is that they were taught the wrong thing in dental school. And our legal system makes damn sure that they do what they were taught or they get sued.

So in a game like that…where you either do the wrong thing or get out of the profession… what do u do?

hard choice.

I can agree with you that when it comes to tmj, they are not taught completely. But do they understand something about this issue? I think they do. Go ask a dentist what a collapsed bite is. Are you saying that dentists don't know what a collapsed bite is? They are never taught in school about the mechanisms of a collapsed bite?

You don't ever leave an open margin on a crown. But crowns come with open margins all the time. Are you saying they are not taught that?

I’m saying dentists have zero clue about the ‘soft tissue’ that i talk about here: https://reviv.substack.com/p/i-rip-through-the-soft-tissue-of

And that this soft tissue is FAR more important to understand than the teeth and the jaw.

The teeth and the jaw are simply a function of this soft tissue.

I understand what you are saying. You told me prior that when you add vertical you are stretching this soft tissue. I get that. Posterior vertical dimension is something dentists know. They might not be taught on how to fix this issue completely. I am just speculating because i never attended dental school, but they know something about collapsing vertical dimension or bite. That's all i am saying.

Let me ask you a question, you never attended dental school, so how do you know they were taguht the wrong things? :)

In my first 5-6 years in this game i became quite close with several dentists and would chat with them... and they would essentially talk about what they were taught.

Two of them were ALF dentists. And so they'd talk about how ALF was not something they were taught in dental school at the time but they were essentially taking a legal risk by doing what they thought was closer to being the 'right' approach.

Because they'd seen the damaging effects of braces, palate expanders, etc.

I believe now a number of ALF dentists are being sued. Or at least that is what i heard.

And because they strayed from the 'acceptable methods'... they are probably likely to lose. Regardless of their intentions.

It all comes down to how the courts define things like 'malpractice' etc

These are just some weekend courses they take so they can get into this tmj game. In regular dental school where do they their degree, how do you know they weren't taught something about vertical dimension?

My Netflix watching has gone down to zero! I don't want to expose my brain to the cultural overlay bs anymore. So much happier now.

I’m inspired by your Netflix detox—but I have to ask: Was this entirely biomechanical improvement, or do streaming services just SUCK more now? Be honest: The content quality these days could cure anyone’s binge addiction!

Rini... i have to ask.. are you actually an AI bot?

As the way you write reminds me a lot of AI :)

In any case.. i agree that Netflix has degraded a lot... but i was actually a pretty big fan of PrimeVideo and Max too...

NO SERRRRR *runs away*

I've never watched anything from Netflix. It has never produced anything of value, only slop. I hate even hearing its wretched name.

EGK's avatar

haha I'm not as extreme as you...

But at the end of the day... they're creating content to feed an algorithm.

And so the question to ask is.. why are so many Americans willing to watch so many hours of low quality content?

Autisticus Spasticus's avatar

My essay Colour Grading as Sensory Deprivation is tangentially related. You might want to have a look.

EGK's avatar

interesting.. i had a look... you're definitely very deep into that topic....

I watch very little tv, and nothing on any subscription based programs. It's all garbage. My parents called the tv the "boob tube." TV will dumb you down, and there's a reason the call them "programs."

EGK's avatar

haha your parents sound like they're from my generation...

I didn’t understand your last reply. You stated that the device was held up in customs or somewhere but that was the first order. You stated that you would resend and include a large & small size. That was the email that I was referring to when I said I was still waiting for the devices. So LMK if you are going to send them please bc you didn’t answer.

RebeccaStar's avatar

In the meantime I can’t sleep with it so can only wear for couple hours. I’m getting a new bridge in January so I will make sure dentist makes back molar high enough bc right now it’s flat.

RebeccaStar's avatar

Ok I’ll let you know if I get it.

EGK's avatar

the first order was the one that i cancelled before shipping because you asked me to.

the 2nd order is the one that was held up at customs but is on its way to you. And it has the small and large size.

It was already sent over a week ago..

RebeccaStar's avatar

I sent you a response after I received my device. Did you get it???

EGK's avatar

i dont think i saw anything… ill message you directly so we have a direct line

RebeccaStar's avatar

I couldn’t sleep so after 2 hours I took it out. It doesn’t fit very well either uncomfortable! I hope yours is better if I ever get it

EGK's avatar

at the beginning its supposed to feel uncomfortable. Generally i view that the more uncomfortable it is the more its working to stretch the soft tissue.

Will take some weeks for it to get comfortable

RebeccaStar's avatar

Haven’t received yet so I purchased the Shock device from Amazon. I could wear it siting up but could not sleep in it kept me awake. Plus it’s so large I can’t close my lips. Is this normal???

EGK's avatar

its ok if you cant close your lips. It will still work.

After things stretch for some weeks u should be able to close your lips

RebeccaStar's avatar

When will I get your device still haven’t received.

RebeccaStar's avatar

Device was not delivered on Dec 14 so still don’t have it & can’t wear the one I got from Amazon that you recommended.
