How long does the recovery process take?
To determine this you need to know your start, your end, and your velocity.
This is a question i get a lot. People wanna know how long it’s gonna take to recover.
Some folks that haven’t had TMJ are expecting a quick fix. As if they’re doing surgery or taking some antibiotics to get over a cold.
That is definitely not how this game works. lol
Others are on the other extreme end. The folks that have had TMJ for a decade or more and have almost given up hope of ever getting a lasting solution.
To these folks I often find myself saying that they will likely get out of their worst symptoms quicker than they think.
These days I like to put things in a framework so that they have a way to think about it.
My framework for determining how long recovery takes you
I like to frame it in terms of these three questions:
1. What is your starting point? (eg. symptoms, body structure, etc)
2. What is your end point? (eg. what are you trying to achieve? Just get out of symptoms or you want to get to perfect body/skull/etc like me)
3. What is your velocity of progress? (slow way = Reviv One/composite, fast way = my jaw stretches)
You should think about what these things are for you, and that will then determine how long your journey will be.
Now i’ll give you some examples of lengths so you can see how this works.
Example 1: Me
Let’s take me as the first example. I’ve done this a number of times in ten years but i’ll use my latest cycle for the purposes of this example.
In 2019-20 I wore no appliance for almost a year and had an open posterior bite. It degraded my body and skull to the point that I think my body and mind was the equivalent of like 60+ years old.
My skin looked horrible, I had a bald spot, I couldn’t focus for more than five minutes, and lots of other stuff.
I was in pretty bad shape, and both my body and neck looked pretty bad. I looked like a middle age fart.
But I started making steady progress from about mid-2021. So it has now been a little over three years.
And for about the last 1.5 - 2 years I’d consider that I do the ‘fast way’, which is probably about 10-20x faster than simply wearing a rubber appliance (like the Reviv One or a myobrace).
And I believe i will ‘finish’ by the end of this year. So it will have taken about 3.5 years despite knowing how to do it fast.
But it is important to note that for me ‘finish’ means perfect body, perfectly symmetric skull/face, and perfect health.
Example 2: My son
My son was a mouthbreather and poor sleeper ever since he was two years old or so. Particularly in the winter he’d get congested and just sleep awful most nights.
It would impact his ability to concentrate during the day at school and would make him a bit moody sometimes.
I had been trying to get him to wear a myobrace, but at his young age it was always a struggle. He would just spit it out at night and didn’t want to wear it for more than a few minutes during the day.
But in mid-2021 a few months after I was pretty confident I’d ‘remembered’ the mechanics I decided to just go for composite on his teeth. I found a dentist in Koh Samui willing to do it and added about 3-4mm of dental cement on his last lower tooth on either side. He was 7 years old at the time.
It has now been over 3 years. He stopped the mouthbreathing within the first year.
And he started sleeping very well. Plus his arches expanded a lot so that he now has healthy gaps between his teeth.
So in terms of symptoms, in a way you can consider him done. But I do not consider him ‘done’ because i want him to be a beast. I want him to be a beautiful human being not just physically but from an energy & mental health standpoint.
And so I will continue the process for many years more. But still, I do not expect him to ever be able to take this stuff to ‘the end’ like I will because he will not have the motivation to do the hundreds of hours of jaw stretches like I do, which are the major accelerator.
And so I expect he’ll just continue to improve for many years to come and be very happy with his life and health. But never really feel the need to take this stuff to where I will take it.
ie. I plan to be an absolute fucking beast when i’m done. Not just physically, but neurologically.
Example 3: My friend, Max
A friend, Max, had some back issues and brain fog and wasnt in too bad a shape about 1.5 years ago when I met him. I told him my story and after a couple months he figured he’d try.
So he got a rubber appliance (like a Reviv One) and wore it for 4-5 months. He got out of his brain fog and back issues and so he considered himself ‘done’.
He was only in his early 30’s and wasn’t in bad shape to begin with. So it happened pretty fast.
Plus he didn’t feel the need to take this to where I plan to take it.
So now he goes about his normal life not really thinking about this stuff and I believe he just slaps on his Reviv One occasionally.
I’ve seen at least another 30 variations that fall somewhere between examples 2 & 3
I’ve been talking about this stuff for a long time with family and friends. And so many folks have done this for awhile.
My wife does it. My father does it. Some of my best friends do it.
But they all do the slow way. Mainly because i refuse to teach anyone the fast way.
My wife and my son are the only ones i’d be willing to teach it to and they’re not really motivated for it. As it takes hundreds of hours.
And so using the slow way everybody improves and most get out of their most bothersome symptoms pretty quickly.
But they never come close to the ‘true end’. And never even really get to the part where they are ripping through soft tissue and remodeling their skull/face, which is something i’ve been doing for like 1.5 years.
The reason for that is that the slow way is just too slow.
Wrapping up
Anyway I hope i’ve given you an idea for how long this stuff takes so that you can judge for yourself…
What is your starting point?
What is your desired end point?
And unfortunately for now the velocity will be the slow way. Because till i figure out a way to monetize the fast way, i will not be teaching anyone.

Cannot believe the effects from just a few days of wearing reviv 2. The tension is dissolving, today my skin looks great! I have more lung capacity... Crazy stuff! Did not believe the Internet hype
I want the fast way !
