Absolutely fascinating! I love reading your analyses! I learn so much. I guess I was very lucky when last year I went to an orthodontist to see about doing something for my lower front teeth crowding. They took me through the process and told me I'd have to wear full metal braces for 2 yrs... Ugh! And have one tooth in front lowers removed. Then the Orthodontist told me "if he was me he wouldn't do it". That's all I needed to decide against it. Well, 2 yrs of metal in my mouth did it too. But here, to my good fortune was an honest guy. And I know there are plenty of ppl over 40, 50 and 60 who do finally get their teeth straightened.. too bad for them. The near 50 yr old lady I know who has braces doesn't seem to be doing that well; she seems really stressed. But I didn't know her before she had them. Time will tell.
Very interesting..I'm noticing that with Reviv my curve of spee is "reappearing" so to speak. I've had braces 3x. first briefly at the age of 9/10 (which I don't even remember but my mom says so) and the orthodontist decided I was too young for them and quickly took them off. Then again from ages 12-15. Then I didn't wear my retainer and got them again at 25-26. Anywho, having braces somewhat flattened my bite, and created no gaps between my teeth, which I thought was normal. I started getting really bad TMJ before the 3rd round of braces and thought the stress of grad school was causing me to grind my teeth and that a 3rd round of braces would help reverse the TMJ...it didn't. With Reviv my TMJ pain is almost gone! Now I'm noticing this gap widen in my teeth...which I guess is this curve of spee gap. I do still have a permanent retainer on my bottom teeth, and while I feel a tenderness in my front top and bottom teeth after wearing reviv at night. Long story long, I wonder if I should have my bottom permanent retainer removed to better experience the effects of reviv?
it boils down to whether you changed the "occlusion"
occlusion = how the upper & lower teeth come together
on a 'makeover' like this the dentist will often do at least 10 teeth on the upper arch with veneers to ensure that the smile is consistently white across all upper teeth.
This means shaving down the canines and first premolars.
Good ending EGK!!

I get how moving teeth can cause this, but how does gluing something to the fronts do it?

Those teeth are part of the "occlusion" and when they resurface those teeth they are most likely messing up the jaw positions i talk about here: https://reviv.substack.com/p/indexed-splints-and-the-magical-perfect
